Bent lamination box.
This is the full build video of my official entry for the rocklerbentwoodchallenge hosted by rockler and the modern maker podcast.
It lets you make sharp curves and reverse curves enables you to make wide parts and delivers uniform results for multiple parts.
Hey i m looking to do some bent lamination for the face of a jewellery box i want the curve to be really accurate because all my other measurements rely on it.
In this video i will be making a small keepsake box.
A few thick laminations will tend to spring more than many thin pieces.
The main techniques i used in this project are bent lamination veneering and carving.
I would preferably like to use pva glue as i can see that it is the safest but i am worried about springback.
Check out bent laminations.
Bent lamination gluing up thin layers of wood to create a curve allows you to generate curved parts that wouldn t be possible by sawing or steaming.
In this video i show you how to build this modern tissue box with bent laminated corners with tongue and groove joinery.
Make the radius of your form just an eighth inch or so smaller than you want to final part to be.
With experience you will get the feel for this but keep it in mind as you work with your first bent parts.
I hope you guys enjoy the build.
